【摘要】:Endotoxinsinmetalworkingfluidaerosolspresentpotentialrespiratoryhealthhazardstoworkerswhoinhalethem.Therefore,aconsensusstandardisneededtoprovidereliabledataonworkplaceairborneendotoxinconcentrationswheremetalworkingfluidsareused.Thispracticeformeasuringairborneendotoxinconcentrationsinmetalworkingfluidatmosphereswillhelptofosterabetterunderstandingofendotoxinexposure-responserelationships.Thispracticefacilitatescomparisonsofinterlaboratorydatafrommethodsandfieldinvestigativestudies.1.1Thispracticecoversquantitativemethodsforthepersonalsamplinganddeterminationofbacterialendotoxinconcentrationsinpoly-dispersemetalworkingfluidaerosolsinworkplaceatmospheres.Usersshouldhavefundamentalknowledgeofmicrobiologicaltechniquesandendotoxintesting.1.2Usersofthispracticemayobtainpersonalorareaexposuredataofendotoxininmetalworkingfluidaerosols,eitheronashort-termorfull-shiftbasisinworkplaceatmospheres.1.3Thispracticegivesanestimateoftheendotoxinconcentrationofthesampledatmosphere.1.4Thispracticeseekstominimizeinterlaboratoryvariationbutdoesnotensureuniformityofresults.1.5Itisanticipatedthatthispracticewillfacilitateinterlaboratorycomparisonsofairborneendotoxindatafrommetalworkingfluidatmospheres,particularlymetalremovalfluidatmospheres,byprovidingabasisforendotoxinsampling,extraction,andanalyticalmethods.1.6In1997,theOccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration(OSHA)empanelledaStandardsAdvisoryCommitteetomakerecommendationstotheAdministrationregardingmeasuresthattheAdministrationcouldtaketoimprovethehealthofworkersexposedtometalworkingfluids.AreporttotheAssistantSecretaryofLaborforOSHAwassubmittedinJuly,1999.SubcommitteeE34.50believesthattheusercommunitywouldbenefitsignificantlyifastandardmethodwasdevelopedtogivethecommunityguidanceonamethodologyforthesamplingandanalysisofpersonalairborneendotoxinexposureassessmentsinfacilitiesusingwater-misciblemetalremovalfluids,basedontheLALassayorotherendotoxindetectiontechnologiesastheybecomeavailable.1.7Thispracticedoesnotattempttosetorimplylimitsforpersonalexposuretoendotoxininmetalworkingfluidaerosolsinworkplaceenvironments.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
