【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedasameansforobtaininganextractfromminerockandsoilsamplestoverifytheeffectivenessofcyanidereleaseremediation.Cyanideisanalyzedinminerockandsoilextractsafterremediationofprocessspills,todemonstrateregulatorycompliance;however,impropersamplecollectionandextractioncanresultinsignificantpositiveornegativebias,potentiallyresultinginunnecessarypermitviolationsorundetectedcyanidereleasesintotheenvironment.Thispracticeisdesignedtomobilizeaqueouscyanidespresentinthesolids,sothattheresultingextractcanbeusedtoassessleachatethatcouldpotentiallybeproducedfromremediatedminerockorsoilinthefield.Thispracticeisnotintendedtosimulateactualsiteleachingconditions.Thispracticeproducesextractsthatareamenabletothedeterminationofminor(trace)constituents.Whenminorconstituentsarebeingdetermined,itisespeciallyimportantthatprecautionsbetakeninsamplepreservation,storageandhandlingtoavoidpossiblecontaminationoftheextracts.Thispracticeusesacomparativetestmethodandisintendedforuseasaroutinemethodformonitoringremediatedminerockandsoilsafterprocessreleasesandremediation.Itisassumedthatallwhousethispracticewillbetrainedanalystscapableofperformingitskillfullyandsafely.ItisexpectedthatworkwillbeperformedinaproperlyequippedlaboratoryapplyingappropriatequalitycontrolpracticessuchasthosedescribedinGuideD3856.1.1Thisguideisapplicableforthecollection,extractionandpreservationofextractsfromminerockandsoilsamplesafterremediationofcyanideprocessreleasesfortheanalysisofcyanideintheextracts.Responsibilitiesoffieldsamplingpersonnelandthelaboratoryareindicated.1.2Thesampling,preservationandextractionproceduresdescribedinthispracticearerecommendedfortheanalysisoftotalcyanide,availablecyanide,weakaciddissociablecyanide,andfreecyanidebyTestMethodsD2036,D4282,D4374,D6888,D6994,D7237,andD7284.Theinformationsuppliedinthispracticecanalsobeappliedtootheranalyticalmethodsforcyanide,forexample,USEPAMethod335.4.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
